Kansas Volunteer Commission
The Kansas Volunteer Commission, a program of the Kansas State Department of Education, connects schools, communities, and organizations to support student success across Kansas. Through service, mentoring, and civic engagement, the Kansas Volunteer Commission helps students build the knowledge, skills, and real-world experiences they need for success after high school. By expanding partnerships and increasing access to volunteers and mentors, the Kansas Volunteer Commission strengthens local schools, supports educators, and creates meaningful opportunities for students to learn, lead, and give back to their communities.
Building stronger schools through service and community connections
The Kansas Volunteer Commission works alongside schools, educators, and community partners to expand opportunities that support student learning and development. As part of KSDE, this work directly contributes to student success by connecting classrooms to real-world experiences and additional supports.
Since 1993, the Kansas Volunteer Commission has promoted service and volunteerism across Kansas by administering AmeriCorps and Volunteer Generation Fund grants, strengthening volunteer infrastructure, and expanding mentoring opportunities statewide.
