Kansas Assessment Program

The Kansas Assessment Program (KAP) includes a variety of assessments and other tools aligned to the Kansas statewide curriculum standards. Our balanced assessment system is designed to support educators and policymakers, evaluate student learning, and meet the requirements for federal and state accountability.

  3. Once you’re on the Resources page, look to the left-hand side.

English Language Arts Assessment

The Kansas English Language Arts (ELA) Assessment is part of the Kansas Assessment Program (KAP) and measures how well students are meeting the Kansas ELA Standards. Students in grades 3–8 and grade 10 participate in the annual ELA state assessment, which evaluates skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. The KAP website also provides a variety of resources to support educators, including information on interim assessments, mini-tests, and the summative assessment available throughout the school year. These tools help educators monitor student progress and make informed instructional decisions.

Math Assessment

The Kansas Assessment Program (KAP) measures how well students are learning math according to the Kansas Mathematics Standards. Students in grades 3–8 and grade 10 take annual math tests covering topics appropriate for their grade, from basic arithmetic and number sense to algebra, geometry, and data analysis. KAP includes both interim tests during the year and end-of-year summative tests to help teachers monitor progress and adjust instruction.

Science Assessment

The Kansas Science Assessment is part of the Kansas Assessment Program (KAP) and measures how well students are meeting the Kansas Science Standards. Students in grades 5, 7 and 11 participate in the annual Science state assessment, which evaluates skills in evaluates students' ability to make sense of authentic scenarios using the science and engineering practices and disciplinary core ideas. The KAP website also provides a variety of resources to support educators, including information on interim assessments, mini-tests, and the summative assessment available throughout the school year. These tools help educators monitor student progress and make informed instructional decisions.

    Complete and submit to TTSpassages@ksde.gov for any student that the district is requesting TTS for Passages and Graphics. The checklist must be submitted by the end of the day January 31.
