Teacher Loan Forgiveness or Cancellation

Teacher loan deferment (postponing payments, sometimes without accruing interest) or cancellation is a benefit that allows eligible educators to temporarily pause or reduce payments. In some cases  a portion of their student loan debt can be eliminated while they teach in qualifying schools or subject areas, such as low-income districts or high-need fields.

Through federal programs tied to Federal Student Aid, teachers may qualify for deferment  or cancellation/forgiveness, which permanently reduces the loan balance after meeting specific service requirements.
