Career Ready Practices and CTE Course Competencies

Career Ready Practices explain the professional skills students should learn, such as communication, problem‑solving, teamwork, and responsibility. These skills help students be successful in both the workplace and after high school.

Within each Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathway, courses include specific course competencies. These competencies describe what students should know and be able to do by the end of a course. They help make sure instruction is consistent across programs and matches skills needed in the workforce.

Together, Career Ready Practices and course competencies provide a clear plan that helps students build the technical and professional skills they need for future careers.

Career Ready Practices also help make sure courses align with the skills and knowledge expected in each pathway. Career Ready Practices should be embedded within all pathway courses
