DLM Essential Elements (EEs)

Currently Tested Essential Elements 

Grade-level-specific expectations about what students with the most significant cognitive disabilities should know and be able to do. Essential Elements are related to college- and career-readiness standards for students in the general population at a reduced depth, breadth, and complexity.

EE Alignment with the Content Standards

The documents the alignment of Kansas standards with the Dynamic Learning Maps® Essential Elements, focusing on educational strategies for students with significant cognitive disabilities. Kansas aims to ensure student success through alignment of alternate academic achievement standards for students with significant cognitive disabilities.

Essential Elements Resources

Kansas Essential Elements Blueprint/Selection Record - Math and English Language Arts by Grade (PDF) (August 2025)
Assists teachers in understanding how to meet the blueprint requirements in the fall and spring test window for ELA and math. It clearly identifies which Essential Elements are required for all students to test on.

Essential Elements by Linkage Data Grades 3-11 (PDF) (August 2025)
Data form that teachers can use to monitor student progress on the K-2 Essential Elements at each linkage level. By breaking the Essential Elements down by linkage level, teachers can see the specific skills addressed at each linkage level.
