Assistive Technology

Assistive Technology (AT) is any item, piece of equipment, or product system that is used to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities of a child with a disability.

The Kansas Assistive Technology Guide was developed in response to requests from Kansas school administrators and educators for clear, high-quality examples of how school districts and IEP teams can provide legal, effective, and ethical assistive technology (AT) services. The guidance is led by Kansas Infinitec and was approved by the Kansas State Department of Education on March 5, 2024. The Guide was reviewed and updated in July 2025 to include an Assistive Technology in Transition Appendix. For more information visit the Kansas Assistive Technology Guidance website. [ksdetasn.org]
