The Fuel Tax Information page supports compliant school transportation operations by providing guidance on fuel tax requirements relevant to Kansas school districts. The School Transportation Safety Unit helps transportation professionals understand fuel tax considerations, proper fuel use, and available reference resources to support lawful and efficient student transportation.

Kansas State Pupil Transportation Association (KSPTA)
The Kansas State Pupil Transportation Association (KSPTA) page supports professional growth and collaboration in school transportation by connecting users to a statewide transportation organization. Through the KSDE Transportation Unit, KSDE provides access to KSPTA resources that complement state guidance and help transportation professionals share knowledge, training, and best practices across Kansas.

School Bus Safety Poster Contest
The National School Bus Safety Poster Contest page supports school bus safety education by encouraging students to creatively express safety messages through art. The School Transportation Safety Unit, provides guidance, coordination, and recognition for this statewide contest, helping promote awareness of safe school bus practices among students, schools, and communities across Kansas. The national contest is open only to winners of state/province contests or contests held by overseas US military installations. No other posters will be accepted.
The KSPTA and the School Transportation Safety Unit sponsor the state level contest for Kansas.

The School Bus Safety FAQs page supports safe student transportation by providing clear, accessible answers to common school bus safety questions. Through the KSDE Transportation Unit, KSDE helps ensure that school districts, transportation professionals, and the public have access to consistent, reliable information about school bus safety in Kansas. Many of the answers are from the Kansas Administrative Regulations (K.A.R.s) or Kansas Statutes Annotated (K.S.A.s), but there are some that will be found in the Kansas Commercial Drivers' License Handbook, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Regulations, and other sources. We will do our best to provide you with references which can be found on the School Transportation Safety Unit web site.
Video Library
The School Bus Safety DVD Library page supports safe student transportation by providing access to a comprehensive collection of safety training videos. The The School Transportation Safety Unit offers districts a valuable instructional resource to reinforce safe driving practices, improve emergency preparedness, and promote consistent school bus safety standards across Kansas.
This video catalog lists the DVD's in alphabetical order which are available for loan, free of charge with the exception of return postage, to any Kansas group. Driver education instructors, community leaders, and parents play a vital role in informing Kansans about traffic safety.

Please return DVD on or before the date due. Passing a video onto another borrower is NOT permitted. If there is damage to a DVD please contact the School Transportation Safety Unit. It is the responsibility of the user to put a 'tracer' on the DVD's if it is lost or misplaced in the mail.
Video Streaming
The School Transportation Safety Unit has 10 streaming safety videos available for the current school year. These videos are being made available to any School Bus Driver, Transportation Director, Trainer or School Bus Contractor employed by any Kansas school. There is no limit on the number of times you can view a video or access this service.
