Kansas Evaluation Protocols
Kansas school systems must select an evaluation protocol that is on file with KSDE. Each of these systems has been vetted and approved by the Kansas State Board of Education for use.

Locally created evaluation protocols are also accepted provided they follow statute.
All school districts will provide continual professional learning opportunities for building leaders with a primary focus of district level training with regard to inter-rater agreements as part of the evaluation process.
Evaluation Timelines
According to Kansas Statute 72-2409, the timeline for personnel evaluations as set forth for school systems shall be as follows:
Any Employee not employed for an entire semester is not required to be evaluated.
Educators in their first or second consecutive years of employment in a district must be evaluated during the first 60 days of each semester. The final conference between the evaluator and evaluatee should take place no later than the 60th day of each semester.
Educators in their third or fourth years of employment in a district must be evaluated at least one time each school year no later than February 15. The final conference between the evaluator and evaluatee should take place no later than February 15.
After the fourth year of employment educators are evaluated once every three years no later than February 15. The final conference between the evaluator and evaluatee should take place no later than February 15.
