Biography

Dennis Hershberger was born and raised in Harvey County. He spent five years working in service and manufacturing before graduating from Hesston College in 1974 with a degree in liberal arts. In 1984, Mr. Hershberger earned a nursing degree and went on to spend 30 years in the nursing field. He later worked six years in transportation before retiring in 2021.

Mr. Hershberger remains active in community church leadership. His past civic involvement includes leadership roles in 4‑H and serving as chair of the Reno County Republican Central Committee. He and his wife, Carol, live near Hutchinson. They have four children and four grandchildren. Their children attended public and private schools and were also homeschooled.
