KSDE School Transportation Safety Unit provides reminders for summer trainings

Several training opportunities are available for school transportation personnel this summer.

Transportation directors and school bus contractors are invited to ask questions and share information via Zoom, 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. on the first Wednesday of every month. Join the Zoom here: https://ksde.zoom.us/j/98559287456

The following training opportunities are available:

  • New or existing transportation directors can take advantage of one of KSDE’s transportation basics workshops for transportation directors.
  • Anyone who supervises commercial driver’s license (CDL) holders is mandated by federal law to have drug and alcohol reasonable suspicion training for CDL supervisors which will be offered in June for no charge.
  • If transportation directors have anyone needing to take the written test for their CDL, the KSDE School Transportation Safety Unit highly recommends taking advantage of a CDL proxy testing event.
  • The “Train the Trainer” program still has a few seats available.
  • Remember: ALL annual inspection forms have been updated. The use of inspection forms with a revision date of December 2024 is MANDATORY.
  • The KSPTA Safety Conference will be June 4-6, in Wichita.

More information about these opportunities can be found on the School Transportation Safety Unit’s events webpage: https://www.ksde.gov/Agency/Fiscal-and-Administrative-Services/School-Finance/School-Transportation-Safety/Upcoming-Events
