License Application

Before you apply or renew a License:

*Important: Please note application processing fees are not refundable. Ensure you select and submit the correct application. If you have questions regarding an application, please contact the Teacher Licensure team at TLALicense@ksde.gov.

You must submit one fingerprint card and a $57 fee for the purpose of a KBI and FBI background clearance if:

  • You are applying for your first Kansas license
  • Your most recent Kansas certificate/license has expired
  • You have never submitted a fingerprint card or fee as part of any previous application for a Kansas certificate or license

Always review the license requirements before applying or renewing.

Check your current/credential at License Lookup. (Use of the incorrect renewal application may result in submission of incorrect renewal requirements and/or delay in processing).

Applications found in the Kansas Licensure Application System (KLAS)

Applications for New Kansas Graduates and Current Kansas Educators:

You will still need to register for/login to KLAS.

On the main menu, you will see three options:

1) KLAS
2) License Applications (you need to select this option for any application below)
3) Fingerprint Portal

To access any of the applications listed below, please select 2) License Applications
