The KSDE teacher licensure team is seeking volunteers to help revise the educator preparation standards for the following license areas:
This is anticipated to be a single committee revising the preparation standards for both license areas. Committee meetings are planned to be held online.
Indicate interest and availability on this survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/YJMXTR5
Program standards define the knowledge and skills expected of just-qualified program completers ready to enter the profession and guide the design of higher education preparation programs.
The committee will be composed of approximately 12-16 members total: Four to six members from P12, four to six members from higher education, and four members from stakeholder organizations.
At the committee's first meeting, members will select dates for future meetings, approximately four to six weeks apart, for completion in April 2026 of the standards drafts and crosswalks. It is hoped the drafts will be ready for public comment next summer and can be presented to the Kansas State Board of Education for consideration in Sept. 2026.
Volunteers should currently serve in a leadership position or be higher education faculty in the content area. KSDE appreciates the time and expertise of revision committee members and encourages that the time spent on standards work be recognized as professional development service to the profession.
Current standards for both areas are on KSDE’s website:
