The Kansas Department of Health and Environment’s Child Care Licensing Team shared the following message with licensed child care providers on Feb. 21. The following information may be useful for schools seeking to open licensed child care programs in summer or fall 2025:

We are quickly approaching spring and want to provide you a reminder regarding submitting applications for summer and fall time programs in a timely manner. Please remember, applications should be submitted at least 90 days prior to your anticipated opening date. This will ensure KDHE is able to look over all required documentation and work with you to remedy any unforeseen circumstances should they arise.

The 2025-26 Kansas Career Guidance Handbook is available for reference along with the downloadable pathways application checklist

Graduating seniors who are attending a school with at least one approved Career and Technical Education (CTE) Pathway and have excelled in CTE are encouraged to submit a 2025 CTE Scholar application no later than March 3. (Please note: This is not a scholarship program.)

Citizenship Day for the state’s Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) was held on Jan. 15, in Topeka, hosted by the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) and state CTSOs advisors.

This annual event features state CTSO officers sharing their accomplishments and spreading awareness of how valuable Career Technical Education (CTE) programs are for the future of our youth.
