The Kansas State Department of Education will be sending out a link to an online scheduling calendar by Sept. 8 to districts that had professional development plans expire July 31, 2022, or July 31, 2023, so that an in-person PD review meeting can be scheduled.
If a system already has reviewed a plan with KSDE’s Ed Kalas, he will work with the system to finish the current process. For systems that haven’t done an in-person review, KSDE is adjusting the process because of the amount of time it takes to currently conduct a review. This change also will allow members of the Professional Development Council (PDC) to participate in the review.
Each system in a cohort will be assigned to a group and provided with a range of dates to select from. Each group will receive a separate email with those dates and more instructions.
These meetings may be via Zoom or in person, depending on when they are scheduled.
The goal is to connect this meeting to a PDC meeting or a PDC work session if possible. Sessions will be scheduled for two hours. The PDC chair is required to attend this meeting.
