Volunteers needed for KSDE higher education accreditation reviewer training

The KSDE teacher licensure team is seeking volunteers to participate in higher education accreditation reviewer training in early November.

Those who are interested need to sign up no later than Aug. 15, for the training that will be 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., on Nov. 6, in Topeka. Online modules will need to be completed before the in-person training.

Accreditation reviewers evaluate higher education preparation providers (EPP) for alignment to the KSDE higher education accreditation standards. KSDE uses the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) accreditation standards for both KSDE-only EPP accreditations and joint KSDE-CAEP EPP accreditations.

Higher education accreditation review is a much-needed service to the profession and provides opportunities to network with peers across the state and beyond. Serving on a higher education accreditation review provides the opportunity to learn more about college and university educator preparation and be involved in the continuous improvement process.

KSDE teacher licensure will seek funding to reimburse attendees for travel, but funding has not been confirmed to date. KSDE can make reimbursement for a substitute for Pre-K-12 attendees.

Sign up here for the reviewer training no later than Aug. 15: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/DY6VCZH
