The Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) Child Nutrition and Wellness (CNW) team invites child nutrition professionals to attend Farm to School regional workshops that will be 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. on the following dates:
The workshops are free, and travel expenses for child nutrition professionals (up to 100 miles round trip) will be reimbursed. A local lunch featuring Kansas products will be provided.
The goal of these workshops is to educate program operators about specialty crops available regionally and to increase market access through producer/buyer conversations.
KSDE CNW is working with Kansas Farm Bureau/Shop Kansas Farms, Kansas Rural Center, The Kansas City Food Hub, and the Specialty Crop Growers Association to offer learning, networking, and procurement planning with regional producers. Child nutrition professionals will have the opportunity to meet face-to-face with producers to explore procurement options for fresh quality produce.
Funding for this program is provided by the Kansas Department of Agriculture’s Specialty Crop Block Grant.
