The following is a formal acknowledgment of service for three outgoing members of the KSDE Professional Standards Board:
The Professional Standards Board extends its sincere appreciation to Ms. Jill Bergerhofer, Ms. Libby Schmitz, and Ms. Candace Landers for their exemplary service and steadfast commitment during their tenure on the Board.
If an educator licensure coordinator is not receiving emails from the Kansas Licensure Application System (KLAS) that alerts them to applications needing attention, follow these recommendations, the KSDE teacher licensure team has several recommendations.
Districts are reminded attendance policies fall under local control. While coding practices remain at the discretion of individual districts and buildings, KSDE strongly recommends implementing consistent attendance policies across all buildings within a district to ensure data accuracy.
Action plans and improvement plans are required by law for schools that 1) operate schoolwide programs; and for schools 2) identified federally for support and improvement. The submission window for both action plans closes Thursday, May 15. Action plans submitted after this date will not be accepted.

The School Transportation Safety Unit is conducting a one-day survey on Wednesday, April 16, to determine the prevalence of illegal passing of school buses. The Kansas State Board of Education has requested all school districts in Kansas participate in this important project.
The Mentor Stipends application is open to receive 2024-25 reimbursement requests and will close on May 1.
