The Labor Market Information division of the Kansas Department of Labor (KDOL) will soon unveil “Today’s Occupations, Tomorrow’s Opportunities” (T.O.T.O.), a new career coaching website designed to engage students in career exploration. Prior to the April launch, KDOL is seeking sixth through 12th grade student volunteers to help test the site and provide feedback.
Student involvement and feedback would be invaluable in helping KDOL enhance the website before it is made public. Feedback will be collected through online forms, allowing students and facilitators to participate at their convenience, March 10 -28.
Students, educators, or career counselors who are interested in participating in testing the website should contact the KDOL at kdol.toto@ks.gov.
What is T.O.T.O.?
T.O.T.O. is designed to inspire students to discover their interests and talents while identifying pathways that lead to real employment opportunities in Kansas. One of our goals is to introduce students to occupations they might not have considered before.
One standout feature of the website is the Wizard of Jobs "reality check.” This innovative tool helps students understand how much money they need to earn to afford their desired lifestyle. It bridges the gap between budgeting for a salary and considering the lifestyle choices students want to maintain, helping them make more informed career decisions.
Support for Career Counselors and Educators
T.O.T.O. isn’t just for students—it also supports the active guidance of career counselors and educators who are vested in student success. KDOL provides:
