On July 23, Kansas Ages & Stages Questionnaires (ASQ) Online users received the first installment of Kansas Kindergarten Readiness Snapshot News & Updates, a five-part guide to a successful start to the kindergarten year.

The Kansas early childhood systems-building webinar on July 10 featured presentations about recent updates to two important Kansas early childhood resources.  

It is time for early childhood special education administrators to review and finalize their Early Childhood Outcomes data for the 2023-24 school year.  

Engaging with families to build strong relationships during children’s transition into kindergarten is a key strategy to prepare children, families, and schools for a successful start to the kindergarten year. All Kansas elementary schools are required to partner with families to complete the Ages & Stages Questionnaires®, Third Edition (ASQ-3) and Ages & Stages Questionnaires®: Social-Emotional, Second Edition (ASQ:SE-2). This Kindergarten Readiness Snapshot is an accreditation requirement and an impactful strategy as part of an overall system of school improvement.   

It is time for early childhood special education administrators to review and finalize their Early Childhood Outcomes data for the 2023-24 school year. A new monitoring report (Missing Entry and Exit Report) makes it easier for districts to determine missing child entry and exit data reported in the Outcomes Web System (OWS) Part B authenticated application. As of July 3, 2021, school districts have missing entries or exits.

The Kansas Department of Commerce Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) team has partnered with seven regional planning organizations across Kansas to sponsor opportunities to join peers and partners to learn about new CDBG programs that can strengthen your community.

Organizations and entities have until 5 p.m. Dec. 18 to apply for $38 million in grants that will help expand on Kansas’ efforts to create new licensed child care slots while adding space to enable work, health monitoring and education supports.

The Kansas State Board of Education on Tuesday, May 9, approved 79 Kansas Preschool Pilot Grant Awards to Kansas school districts and partners.

Remember that end-of-the-year reporting for Early Childhood programs includes the end-of-the-year survey for both Preschool-Aged At-Risk and Kansas Preschool Pilot funding sources.

The Kansas Children’s Cabinet Child Care Accelerator Grant Opportunity will support community-based teams - including early childhood providers and champions, employers and economic development leaders - in their efforts to create additional high-quality, attainable child care slots in their communities.

The Kansas Preschool Pilot Renewal Grant Applications for the 2023-2024 school year are due by 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17. 

The Kansas Division for Early Childhood (KDEC) is now accepting applications for mini-grant proposals. 

The Kansas State Department of Education’s Early Childhood team shared an update regarding preschool funding resources for 2023-2024 on Nov. 10. The 2023-2024 Preschool Revenue Calculator and Budget Template is now available on the KSDE Early Childhood webpage.
