The Kansas State Department of Education’s Elementary and Secondary Emergency Relief (ESSER) team wants to share how to address CARES Act fraud.
Signs of fraud include financial conflicts of interest; suspicious or unverifiable vendors; missing school property or records; defective or low-quality products and services; irregularities in contract awards or procedures; and nonexistent students.
If there is any suspected wrongdoing, report it to the Office of Inspector General by calling 1-800-MIS-USED or visiting the OIG Hotline.
Thank you for ensuring these funds are used properly.
