Verifying college credit for licensure renewal

The KSDE teacher licensure team has updated one of the college credit verification requirements for licensure renewal.

This update* applies to all course work credit (undergraduate and graduate) for licensure renewal. In addition, it answers lingering questions about courses from the Albion Center at Idaho State University, which is now awarding semester credit hours for their courses, and the registrar is signing their transcript.

The courses must meet the following criteria:

  • Relate to content endorsement or professional education standards.
  • *Update: Be documented on official transcripts from the Registrar’s Office or a specific school/program with the Registrar’s signature. These are acceptable and of full value unless otherwise specified in the transcript key.
  • Come from one of the following regionally-accredited higher education institutes:
    • New England Commission of Higher Education
    • Middle States Commission of Higher Education
    • The Higher Learning Commission (HLC)
    • Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges
    • Southern Association of Colleges and Schools
    • Western Association of Schools and Colleges Senior Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges
    • Western Association of Schools and Colleges Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges
    • Association for Biblical Higher Education

This change will be reflected on the KSDE teacher licensure webpage: Verifying College Credit Courses for Licensure Renewal
