Action plans and improvement plans are required by law for schools that 1) operate schoolwide programs; and for schools 2) identified federally for support and improvement. The submission window for both action plans closes Thursday, May 15. Action plans submitted after this date will not be accepted.
For both groups, plans must identify the goals for the building, evidence-based practices they will implement to improve academic achievement and identify the action steps necessary to move towards the desired state of the building once those practices are fully implemented.
For schoolwide programs, action plans are based upon a comprehensive needs assessment.
For schools federally identified for support and improvement, improvement plans are based on the reason for identification.
KansaStar is the platform in which those plans’ requirements are housed and continuously updated by the buildings. The plans are also monitored and supported by the district and by KSDE on this platform. Click here for a 2024 video that explains how to navigate the KansaStar platform for those who need a refresher.
