At the end of the 2022-2023 school year, the Accreditation and Review Council (ARC) will say goodbye to six of its members who have completed the maximum length of service, which is two, three-year terms. Thus, new applicants are being sought to fill the open seats.
ARC is the body of education professionals (18 in total) who review systems in year five of their accreditation cycle and make a recommendation to the Kansas State Board of Education regarding each system’s accreditation status.
The ARC bylaws state:
- The purpose of the Accreditation Review Council shall be to:
- Review and provide input to Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) staff concerning accreditation procedures and documentation necessary to make systems accreditation status recommendations.
- Advise KSDE staff of concerns or issues related to procedures and documentation necessary to formulate accreditation recommendations to the State Board of Education.
- Provide accreditation status recommendations to the Kansas State Board of Education for final accreditation approval as specified in the Accreditation Review Council Handbook.
Open positions include the following:
- Three central office staff members.
- One middle school teacher.
- One high school administrator.
- One private/parochial.
Priority will be given to individuals who can fill an open position and represent a board region that is currently unfilled, with priority given to Board Districts 3, 4 and 10.
Everyone interested in applying for the ARC is invited to do so regardless of their position and Board region.
