Members of the KSDE Information Technology (IT) team attended the Kansas PowerSchool Users Group (KSPSUG) Fall Mini Conference on Oct. 13, in Salina. Staff from more than 65 districts were registered to attend.  

Throughout the day, accounts were created for more than 45 of those districts to obtain access to the Kansas Education Data System (KEDS) Data Validation Portal (DVP).

The KSDE information technology team is hosting a webinar at 1 p.m., April 16, featuring Anthony Essmaker, regional engagement manager at the Center for Internet Security's Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center (MS-ISAC).   

Essmaker will be providing information about the tools and services MS-ISAC provides to school districts across the nation, including cybersecurity resources and supports. By providing tools, training and threat intelligence, MS-ISAC empowers educational institutions to strengthen their digital defenses, combat cyber threats, and safeguard sensitive information.

District registrars or reporting staff members looking to streamline their data management skills are invited to attend a workshop hosted by the Kansas State Department of Education in partnership with the Mid-America Association for Computers in Education (MACE). 

This workshop will be 9 a.m.-3 p.m., on March 5, at the K-State Alumni Center, 1720 Anderson Ave., in Manhattan. It is designed specifically for professionals managing student data in K-12 districts and is a unique chance for fellow registrars, reporting staff, and IT professionals to connect in a collaborative and informative environment.

This virtual session will cover key AI concepts, real-world applications in today’s classrooms and ethical considerations. Discussion will include how AI can personalize learning, automate tasks, and enhance educational research.

The Kansas Education Data System (KEDS) production environment is ready, according to KSDE Information Technology staff.   

Student Information System (SIS) vendors have been made aware and those who are certified will begin the process of onboarding their districts with KSDE. Certification involves a live transfer of data from the SIS to the KSDE test environment where KSDE IT staff can validate all expected data elements are coming through appropriately.
