The Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM) is the alternate state assessment for students with a most significant cognitive disability. These students are assessed in ELA, math, and science.
The DLM is an instructionally embedded assessment with two required assessment windows. The fall 2025 testing window is Sept. 8 – Dec. 19. The spring 2026 testing window is Feb. 3 - April 24. Test administrators who will be administering the DLM to students must complete the DLM required test administrator training which is now available on Kite Educator Portal.

KSDE available to support quality early childhood programming this school year
A child’s earliest years are an incredible opportunity to support later success. More than 90% of a child’s brain architecture develops by age five, and one million new neural connections happen every second during the first few years of life.

To advance kindergarten readiness, all Kansas elementary schools are required to partner with families of incoming kindergarten students to collect kindergarten-entry data using the Ages & Stages Questionnaires®, Third Edition (ASQ-3) and the Ages & Stages Questionnaires®: Social-Emotional, Second Edition (ASQ:SE-2).
