The KSDE School Transportation Safety Unit is offering informational workshops in March for any mechanic performing the Part I mechanical school/activity bus safety inspection.
This no-cost workshop is designed to provide information to assist any mechanic who performs this inspection, which is required by Kansas State Department of Education school transportation regulations. District mechanics, contractor mechanics and local independent community mechanics are welcome to attend.
Register here for the following sessions:
Class instructors will be Kansas Highway Patrol Motor Carrier Inspector Tyson Oxford and the KSDE School Transportation Safety Unit. This workshop has been offered in the past; however, it is continually being updated and improved so past attendees should consider attending again.
Please note: The annual inspections forms for school buses, activity buses and school passenger vehicles were revised effective Dec. 1, 2024.
About the instructor: Tyson Oxford, Motor Carrier Inspector/Safety Auditor for the Kansas Highway Patrol, has been conducting Level 1 Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) inspections for the KHP since 2004. His federal certifications include hazmat, cargo tank, other bulk, post-crash inspector and safety auditor.
