Picture of the Week: Shawnee Mission USD 512's Hills Hackers

Five students at Indian Hills Middle School, Shawnee Mission USD 512, were recently crowned the champions of the 2025 National Space Grand Challenge, a prestigious, virtual, game-based cybersecurity competition. The annual event challenges middle and high school students to develop cyber and IT skills through an innovative blend of STEM, space themes, gamification, and esports.

The Hills Hackers are Miles Muehlbach, Elliot Jaynes, Adam Enslow, Liam Flurry, and George Clifford. Their sponsor is Jessica Tickle, an instructor in the SMSD Engineering Signature Program. Tickle was one of only two recipients in the U.S. of the 2024 Presidential Cybersecurity Education Award this past November. (Photo submitted by Jessica Tickle)

Send pictures of students, staff or other district personnel to be recognized for their accomplishments to ksdeweekly@ksde.gov, along with a description of the photo, and it may be featured in KSDEweekly!
