Reminder: Clarification provided for whom should attend the Great Ideas in Education Conference, July 28-30

As preparations continue for the upcoming Great Ideas in Education Conference, the following information clarifies which staff members on the District Leadership Teams (DLT) and Building Leadership Teams (BLT) should attend this conference.  

These individuals are encouraged to attend as a team to provide a robust representation of a district or building which will enhance discussions and collaborative learning: 

  • Superintendent 
  • Budget and data entry staff 
  • Principals 
  • Curriculum leaders/directors 
  • ESEA staff 
  • IDEA staff 
  • Teachers from all elementary and secondary levels 
  • Counselors 
  • Mental health support staff 

 

The draft agenda will include a variety of presentations and group discussions aimed at enriching the understanding and application of educational best practices. Some key topics will include: 

  • Leveraging the Math and Science Toolkits: Your GPS to Mastering Standards Alignment 
  • Using a Balanced Assessment System 
  • Structured Literacy 
  • Standards Alignment Toolkits for ELA and HGSS 
  • Federal Identification of Schools for Support 
  • Improving School Climate and Mental Health (Mandated Reporting: 2025 Updated DCF Language and Impact for Schools) 
  • KESA Supports 
  • KIDS/KEDS Data Entry 
  • Compliance Areas - Special Education and Title Services 
  • Compliance Areas - Licensure, IPS, CTE, Postsecondary, Graduation 
  • DLT Discussion - Professional Learning in Structured Literacy 
  • Safe and Secure Schools Summit 
  • Fiscal Budgeting 
  • Living in a VUCA World (presented by Carol Brooks Simoneau)
