The Kansas Information Security Office (KISO) recently announced the State of Kansas joined the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center (MS-ISAC) under a one-year, Whole-of-State membership.
This agreement covers all state agencies, counties, cities, school districts, and other public entities across Kansas. This membership is effective Oct. 1, 2025, through Sept. 30, 2026. In the announcement, KISO continues to evaluate longer-term solutions, stating this membership provides an immediate runway to enhance security and collaboration across our communities.
The following key details were provided outlining the membership agreement:
Next steps: If your organization is not currently using MS-ISAC services, designate a point-of-contact and send that information to KISO.CyberCollaboration@ks.gov. Include full name, title, phone number, alternate phone number (if applicable), and email address.
The Kansas Information Security Office (KISO) acts as the statewide coordinating entity for cybersecurity incidents, enabling a Whole-of-State approach. When an incident occurs, KISO brings together the right state, local, and federal resources to ensure a unified response and minimize impact.
This statewide membership reflects our shared commitment to strengthening cybersecurity across Kansas while reducing costs and maximizing benefits. This membership also supports the broader statewide cybersecurity strategy established under the Kansas Cybersecurity Act (KCA) and SB-291, which require coordinated, repeatable capabilities and maturity across all state agencies by 2027.
Cybersecurity is a team effort. No single city, county, or agency can stop every attack alone. By sharing threat data and incident reports, you help the Kansas Security Operations Center (K-SOC) protect not only your organization but every public entity across Kansas. The more we share, the stronger our statewide shield becomes. KISO treats all shared data as confidential in accordance with K.S.A. 75-7244.
