Dr. New earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Washburn University and her Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Kansas. Recently retired after 35 years of service as an English teacher, high school administrator, and director of certified personnel, she currently serves on two state commissions and many local boards which advocate for youth and the citizens of her Topeka community. Married to LaRon, she is also the mother of eight children, grandmother of twelve, and great-grandmother of one. She is honored to continue her commitment to serving not only the families of District 6, but also all of the children of Kansas.
