Task Force on School Improvement - 
Kansas School for the Deaf

Improvement in KSD Student Success Outcomes


Background

This Task Force on School Improvement is being established to identify actionable opportunities that contribute to improved student success outcomes at Kansas School for the Deaf (KSD). 
Membership

Committee membership will be comprised of:

  • Three Kansas State Board of Education Board Members
  • Three KSD parent representatives
  • Three KSD administrative staff
  • One liaison from the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE), who shall serve as the Chair of the Task Force
  • Dr. Kylie Stewart, who shall serve as an ex-officio member and lend expertise to recommendations of the Task Force.

Meeting Schedule

The Task Force shall meet every two weeks, starting the week of June 23, 2025. An agenda will be published in advance to all Task Force members at least 24 hours in advance of any meeting. Minutes will be taken and distributed to all members of the Task Force and the State Board of Education after each meeting. All meetings are open to the public.

Accountability

The Task Force will conclude any work on or before Dec. 1, 2025. The Task Force should identify actionable items that the Kansas School for the Deaf will implement as early as the fall semester of 2025, with full implementation of all recommendations no later than the fall semester of 2026. A final report will be given to the State Board of Education at its regular meeting in December of 2025.
