School districts are invited to participate in an informational session about hosting a Visiting International Teacher (VIT) during the 2026-27 school year. The webinar will be 12 – 1 p.m., on Feb. 12. Access the webinar at this link: Join the meeting here.
VITs are experienced teachers, all from Spain, who live and work in Kansas for up to five years as part of a cultural exchange. They can teach a variety of subjects ranging from elementary education to high school chemistry and participate in cross-cultural activities in their schools and communities. When they return to their home school after the exchange, they share their experiences and increased knowledge of the United States and the U.S. educational system. During the 2025-26 school year, there are two new VITs and eight returning VITs in Kansas.
School districts interested in hosting a VIT during the 2026-27 school year must complete the Letter of Intent available at Visiting International Teachers. Check out the other resources available on the website, including the VIT timeline and the handbook for teachers and districts to learn more about the program and requirements.
The Letter of Intent is due Feb. 27, to Sarah Nelson, VIT coordinator, sarah.nelson@ksde.gov.
